Architecture Painting Project for High School

This is the first display I set up in my classroom! My kids did a project on Architecture & Color… which means they had a LOT to learn (this is their first art class.) We covered color theory, basic photoshop & photography tips, drawing, AND painting just for one little project. They probably have no idea how much they learned, but LOOK at how good they turned out:

What do you think? I’m proud of them, especially since most of them are so scared of art and of getting a bad grade. It’s nice to see them produce something they didn’t realize they could!

I’ll be posting a ton more so get ready to see some student work =)

Igloos

Ever since high school, I have wanted to build an igloo. I don’t know why. I usually try (and fail) once every winter, and then swear that ONE DAY… I will do it. My brothers don’t even take me seriously anymore when I ask them to go outside and help me.

So since winter is officially droning on and on (and on and on and on and on) here are some pictures I found of igloos to make the winter seem less depressing, sorta. The effing groundhog said six more weeks so we need something to make us not feel so bad about the cold right? I used to think Groundhog’s day was silly and funny, you know, but now I’m just really annoyed. Groundhogs, ugh.

Igloos are so pretty. One day it’s gonna happen, I am going to build my very own igloo.

And umm.. in case you didn’t notice, that last one has a GARAGE. Who knew?!

It’s a house shaped like a snail. Who thinks of these things??

Today was my last art class and critique ever… unless someday I end up in grad school or something crazy like that. It was really sad. I DON’T want to leave school, but I’m actually really excited about moving forward and figuring out what’s next for me. I still have a little bit of time left… I start astronomy next week and won’t officially graduate until August 14th (my birthday!!) Isn’t it crazy that if I don’t pass this astronomy class I won’t get my ART degree?? Come on. That just doesn’t make sense.

Okay so I have this (most likely) ridiculous idea. It’s so hot now that I can’t drink hot coffee, but I can’t STAND it when the ice melts in iced coffee and makes it all nasty and watery. And I drink my coffee with chocolate milk anyway so… I am freezing chocolate milk into ice cubes for my coffee tomorrow. I was going to include a picture but chocolate ice cubes aren’t exactly attractive. Has anyone else tried anything like this?? I’ll let you know how it goes.
