Constructed Reality
In the fall of 2008 in an advanced photography course I had a “constructed reality” assignment. We had to build scenes or somehow create an image and then photograph it, and we were not allowed to use photoshop. My solution was to take photographs of different elements, print and cut them out, and then create my scenes with them.
My concept was the future. I was thinking of all the different paths my life could possibly take-good and bad-and I tried to see what those different scenarios would look like. In the negative photos, my figure is smaller, and in the photos with favorable outcomes, my figure is normal-sized or larger (at least, based on my perceptions when the project was done.)
