Art Camp

Lately my life has consisted mostly of hanging out with little kids and organizing, planning, and teaching them art (and then cleaning up their messes!) I started my summer job as a counselor at an art camp, and so far I lovelovelove it. The kids are HILARIOUS and they’ve made some really cool things (I forgot to bring my camera last week and now they’ve taken their work home, I’m so mad at myself.) I get a new batch of kids every week, which is awesome because it means I can fix my mistakes and figure out what projects work best and how to make them better. Perfect practice for becoming an art teacher, right?
One aspect of art camp is theater, which is something I have very very little experience in. Last week we STRUGGLED with it, and I can’t tell you how many times I heard “but I won’t remember my lines!!” and had to say “don’t turn your back on the audience!!!” In the end, though, they performed their little performance perfectly and didn’t forget any lines, I was so proud. One kid even added some singing to the play =) which was about a time traveling balloon (the balloon pictured is the exact balloon they were inspired by, and the same one that we got to fly in last week!) Again, I will be bringing my camera next week to get some photos.
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say what I have been up to =) now that I have settled into my new summer schedule, I will be trying to post more! Hope you are all doing well =)
