30 Days 30 Projects: Day 2

jevoudrais

Today I went CRAZY with photo transfers.  My bookmaking teacher last semester showed us how to do them and they’re a lot of fun (and really unpredictable.)  So today’s one project turned into three half-finished projects and one finished one… I just kept doing it.  So expect to see some more in the next week, once I get them finished.

One thing I noticed while I was working today is that I haven’t really done any art for ME in years.  Everything I do is going to be shown in a critique, to a potential employer, or to someone who just expects a lot since I’m an art student.  So I really tried to forget about the fact that I’m posting these online and just do whatever I feel like.  Art is more about the process than the outcome for me anyway.  And knowing that my viewers know I did each thing in only an hour or so (or less!  depending on what I have going on that day) is going to make this project much easier.

For this piece I used transfered photos and text, and acrylic paint.  Now that I’ve got the paint out I’m having fun just messing around with the colors… I don’t think I’ll ever get into it more than that though.

Leiah: The way I do it is not perfect at all, and I learned from my teacher so I don’t have any resources. But this gave me an idea… I’ll try and make a post about how I do it hopefully in a few days, pictures and all. I started to type it out just now but realized it would be a LOT easier to understand if I used pictures.

    Lauren: gracias! =)
